Is This You?

You're doing everything right and the scale won't budge

These are some of the weight concerns we hear from patients every week. If any sound familiar, you're in the right place.

You've cut calories and increased exercise, but nothing changes

You're putting in the work but your body isn't responding. It feels like your metabolism has shut down.

You lose weight, then gain it all back (and more)

Every diet works for a few weeks. Then the weight returns, and you end up worse than before.

You're exhausted, foggy, and your cravings are constant

It's not just weight. You're tired all the time, your brain feels slow, and sugar cravings run the show.

Your labs are in range. You are not fine. Both things are true.

Standard bloodwork came back fine. But something is clearly off and nobody can explain why.

You carry weight around your midsection no matter what you do

Belly fat that won't respond to exercise. It showed up after stress, a pregnancy, or a hormonal shift.

Eat less, move more. You've done that.

If it worked, you wouldn't be here. Willpower was never the variable.

How It Works

How We Assess Your Weight & Metabolism at Insynco

A structured, evidence-informed process. Here's what a typical weight management journey looks like at Insynco.

Assessment Areas
Weight history & patterns
Metabolic & thyroid signs
Hormonal patterns
Stress & sleep quality

60-Minute Initial Assessment

Your ND takes a full health history: when weight concerns started, what you've tried, past dieting patterns, energy levels, sleep quality, stress, digestive health, and hormonal history. Weight is assessed in the context of your whole body, not as an isolated number on a scale.

Comprehensive Metabolic Testing

We look beyond routine bloodwork. A typical panel could include metabolic markers (fasting insulin, glucose, HbA1c), full thyroid panel, inflammatory markers, hormone assessment (cortisol, DHEA-S, estrogen, testosterone), and nutrient status (vitamin D, B12, iron, magnesium). Your ND orders the testing your case calls for, and you see the cost before anything is ordered.†

Lifestyle modifications

Personalized Weight Management Protocol

Based on your results, your ND builds a targeted plan: nutrition changes designed around your metabolic data, evidence-informed supplementation for identified deficiencies, hormonal support where indicated, and lifestyle strategies for stress, sleep, and movement. Every recommendation is tied to your actual lab data, not a generic meal plan.

Ongoing Monitoring & Adjustment

Follow-up testing tracks real progress over time. Metabolic and hormonal shifts take time to stabilize, so sustainable results require consistent, data-driven care. Your protocol is adjusted based on numbers, not guesswork, with regular check-ins to make sure things are moving in the right direction.

Understanding Weight Management

Factors That Affect Your Weight

Weight concerns are rarely just about calories. They're often signals from interconnected body systems. When metabolism, hormones, blood sugar regulation, or gut health are out of balance, the body resists weight loss regardless of how much effort you put in.

Insulin resistance
Thyroid dysfunction
Cortisol & stress
Hormonal imbalances
Nutrient deficiencies
Gut health & inflammation
Sleep disruption
Blood sugar dysregulation

A naturopathic weight management assessment evaluates these interconnected systems through comprehensive testing, identifying areas that may benefit from targeted support through metabolic nutrition, hormonal balancing, supplementation, stress management, or coordinated care with your family doctor.

The Insynco Approach

What Makes This Different

Not a diet plan. Not a program. Here's how the Insynco system works for weight management.

01

Metabolic-First Methodology

We don't start with meal plans. Testing identifies what's metabolically and hormonally driving your weight concerns: insulin, thyroid, cortisol, inflammation. Treatment starts at the source, not the symptom.

02

Collaborative Care Team

Your ND leads your care plan and can bring in another ND on our team when your case calls for a second perspective. Our support team handles scheduling and follow-up.

03

Comprehensive Metabolic Testing

Metabolic, thyroid and hormone testing, matched to your case.

04

Works With Your Family Doctor

Already working with your GP on weight? Naturopathic care complements your existing plan by testing the machinery underneath: thyroid, insulin, cortisol, sex hormones.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most often about naturopathic weight management.

Can a naturopathic doctor help with weight loss?+
Yes. Naturopathic doctors assess the metabolic, hormonal, and nutritional factors that influence weight. Through comprehensive testing and a personalized protocol, NDs address underlying causes of weight loss resistance such as thyroid dysfunction, insulin resistance, cortisol imbalance, and nutrient deficiencies. The goal is sustainable, evidence-informed weight management rather than short-term dieting.
Why can't I lose weight even though I'm eating less and exercising?+
Weight loss resistance is often driven by factors that calorie restriction alone cannot address: thyroid dysfunction slowing metabolism, elevated insulin keeping the body in fat-storage mode, cortisol imbalance from chronic stress, or nutrient deficiencies impairing metabolic function. A naturopathic assessment identifies which of these factors may be involved through targeted lab testing, then builds a protocol to address them.
What testing do you run for weight loss?+
A typical weight management panel could include metabolic markers (fasting insulin, glucose, HbA1c), full thyroid panel (TSH, free T3, free T4, antibodies), inflammatory markers (hs-CRP, ferritin), hormone assessment (cortisol, DHEA-S, estrogen, testosterone), and nutrient status (vitamin D, B12, iron, magnesium). Your ND confirms the cost of each test with you before anything is ordered.†
Is this a weight loss program or a diet plan?+
Neither. This is a clinical assessment and personalized protocol based on your lab results. There are no meal plans to follow blindly, no calorie counting, and no packaged food programs. Your ND identifies what is metabolically and hormonally driving your weight concerns and builds a targeted plan around nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle changes grounded in your actual data.
How long does a naturopathic weight management protocol take?+
Most weight management protocols run 3 to 6 months or longer. Metabolic and hormonal changes take time to stabilize. The first month focuses on comprehensive assessment and baseline testing. Follow-up testing at regular intervals tracks progress so your protocol can be adjusted based on real data, not guesswork.
Can thyroid problems cause weight gain?+
Yes. An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) slows metabolism and can lead to weight gain, difficulty losing weight, fatigue, and other symptoms. Subclinical thyroid dysfunction, where levels are technically in range but not optimal, can also contribute. A naturopathic assessment includes a full thyroid panel, not just TSH, to evaluate thyroid function more thoroughly. Learn about our approach to hormonal health.
Is naturopathic weight management covered by insurance?+
Naturopathic consultations are covered by most extended health insurance plans in Ontario. Lab tests are billed separately, and we confirm the cost with you before anything is ordered.† Visit our pricing page for full details.
How is this different from seeing a nutritionist or dietitian?+
Naturopathic doctors assess the full clinical picture: hormones, thyroid, inflammation, insulin, cortisol, gut health, and nutrient status through lab testing. Nutritionists and dietitians provide valuable dietary guidance, but may not order or interpret the lab work needed to identify metabolic or hormonal drivers of weight concerns. At Insynco, nutrition is one part of a broader, lab-informed protocol.
Do you prescribe weight loss supplements or medications?+
NDs may recommend targeted supplementation based on lab-identified deficiencies or imbalances, such as nutrients that support thyroid function, blood sugar regulation, or adrenal health. These are evidence-informed and tied to your test results. NDs do not prescribe pharmaceutical weight loss medications. If medication is warranted, your ND can coordinate with your family doctor.
Can stress cause weight gain?+
Yes. Chronic stress elevates cortisol, which promotes fat storage (particularly abdominal fat), disrupts blood sugar regulation, increases cravings, and impairs sleep quality. All of these factors can make weight loss significantly harder. Stress physiology and cortisol patterns are assessed as part of a comprehensive naturopathic weight evaluation.
Can hormonal imbalances cause weight gain?+
Yes. Imbalances in insulin, thyroid hormones, cortisol, estrogen, testosterone, and DHEA-S can all affect metabolism, fat storage, appetite, and energy expenditure. Hormonal testing is a core part of the naturopathic weight assessment because these factors often explain why conventional dieting has not worked. Learn about our hormonal health approach.
Do I need a referral to see a naturopathic doctor for weight concerns?+
No referral is needed. You can book directly through our website and we'll match you with the naturopathic doctor whose clinical focus best fits your concerns.
What if I'm already working with my family doctor on weight?+
That's common and completely fine. Naturopathic care is designed to complement, not replace, your family doctor's guidance. Your ND can share findings and coordinate care. Many patients find that the additional lab work and personalized protocol help fill in gaps that a standard medical visit may not have time to cover.
Is this approach evidence-based?+
Naturopathic doctors are trained in evidence-informed clinical practice. Weight management assessments use standard laboratory testing interpreted through current research on metabolic health, insulin resistance, thyroid function, and hormonal balance. Our naturopathic doctors are registered with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and hold four-year postgraduate degrees from accredited naturopathic medical programs.
How do I prepare for my first appointment?+
Bring any recent blood work, test results, or reports from your doctor. Note any medications, supplements, and a brief timeline of your weight history including past approaches you have tried. Your ND will walk you through everything else during the appointment. See our full guide on what to expect.
